1. Allegheny College Choirs To Present Annual Christmas Concert

The Allegheny College Choirs will present their annual Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium on the Allegheny campus. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature four different choral ensembles: the Choir, Chamber Choir, Women’s Ensemble and Chorus.

2. Dancers To Present Annual Cookies and Milk Holiday Concert

The Allegheny College Dance and Movement Studies program will celebrate the holiday season with its annual Cookies and Milk family concert on Sunday, Dec. 6. Performances are scheduled for 2 and 4 p.m. in the Montgomery Performance Space on the Allegheny campus. Cookies and milk will be served at 3 p.m. in the lobby of the Henderson Campus Center.

3. Allegheny College Students Excel at National Business Competition

Allegheny College students Matthew Lacombe and Lauren Lambert served on two teams that took top spots at the Early Leaders Case Competition—a prestigious event designed to simulate decisions faced by global business leaders—held recently at the University of Rochester’s Simon Graduate School of Business.

4. American Idol Stars Come to Allegheny for Holiday Concert

Tickets are now on sale for “American Stars in Concert,” a holiday concert at Allegheny College featuring four stars from past seasons of the TV phenomenon “American Idol.” The concert -- starring Gina Glocksen, Alexis Grace, David Hernandez and Michael Sarver in solo, duet and ensemble performances of holiday favorites -- will be presented at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the college’s Shafer Auditorium.

5. M. Peter and Ellie Scibetta Honored as Outstanding Philanthropists

Allegheny College graduate and trustee M. Peter Scibetta and his wife, Ellie, were honored recently as “Outstanding Philanthropists” by the northwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

6. Concert to Feature Civic Symphony, Chamber Strings and Select Strings

The Allegheny College Civic Symphony, Chamber Strings and Select Strings will perform their annual fall concert on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Henderson Campus Center on the Allegheny campus. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will include a wide variety of music.

7. Wind Symphony to Present Annual Fall Concert

The Allegheny College Wind Symphony, under the direction of Lowell Hepler, will present its annual fall concert on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 3:15 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium on the Allegheny campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

8. Student Voice Recital to Feature Pieces in Several Languages

Allegheny College students Sara Odioso, Kristyn Gumpper and Alyssa Gumkowski will perform in a voice recital on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 3:15 p.m. in Ford Memorial Chapel on the Allegheny campus.

9. Physics Lecture to Discuss Gecko-inspired Adhesives

Ali Dhinojwala, the H.A. Morton Professor of Polymer Science at the University of Akron, will present “Gecko-inspired Adhesives,” a free public lecture, on Monday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Carr Hall auditorium on the Allegheny College campus.

10. Playshop Theatre to Present Chewing Your Fingers to the Bone

Allegheny College’s Playshop Theatre continues its 80th season with “Chewing Your Fingers to the Bone”—an original production with elements from across the academic disciplines at Allegheny—in the Gladys Mullenix Black Theatre at the Vukovich Center for Communication Arts on Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m.
