1. Armed robbery punctuates break-in spree

Two 18-year-old victims were robbed at gunpoint last Friday at Pirates Place apartments. The victims surrendered $6 in cash, two cellular phones valuing $195 and two sets of keys and were left uninjured. This latest armed robbery follows a string of break-ins in apartment complexes populated by students.

2. More students depressed, survey says

The concern for mental health services on college campuses is on the rise and with good reason. According to the American College Health Association, the rate of students reporting ever being diagnosed with depression has increased 56 percent in the last six years.

3. Zombies Again?

On Monday, many ECU students broke away from their busy class schedules to participate in a campus-wide game of Humans vs. Zombies.

In the late afternoon, students of every class were seen wearing bandannas on their heads and arms and chasing each other with Nerf guns or socks.

4. Local organizations seek volunteers for the holiday season

With the upcoming holiday season approaching, non-profit organizations are seeking a helping hand from ECU students.

Non-profit organizations located in Greenville, which include the Salvation Army, Goodwill and My Sister's Closet, along with additional non-profit organizations, are in need of student volunteers to ensure their duties are accomplished this holiday season.

5. VT Preview

Tonight inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, ECU and Virginia Tech fans alike will witness the matchup of a wounded giant set on revenge and a hungry underdog looking to continue a winning streak.

Last season, the two teams met in Charlotte, N.C., where ECU reversed roles to beat No.

6. Thursday night games create publicity, causes conflicts

There's something special about an ESPN Thursday night game. Just flip on the television every week and behold the college football spectacle for yourself.

Or you could make the trek to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this coming Thursday and see the action unfold in person as the Worldwide Leader in Sports brings its traveling road show to Greenville for the first time since ECU dropped a 39-34 decision to Louisville in 2001.

7. Dwayne Harris feature

When Chris Johnson left ECU for the NFL in 2008, a huge chunk of the Pirates' all-purpose yards and touchdowns left with him.

Filling the void left by the now Tennessee Titan playmaker has since been a problem for the Pirate offensive attack; that is until now.

8. Often overlooked, the offensive line serves as ECU's backbone

Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships and this perennial cliché of the sports world is commonly said and commonly known.

However, one of the most overlooked, unappreciated and flat out unaccredited factor to any football team is a team's offensive line.

9. Blackout? What's the point?

Whenever it comes to a big game, college football programs across America reach into their bag of tricks to find a way to motivate their players and fans.

In most cases, athletic administrators or fans try and organize some form of a color "out." This act of organizing all of their fans to wear one color has been successful at some schools including Penn State's white outs and blackouts by Georgia, Purdue, Colorado, Utah and Vanderbilt.

10. Black Friday: Batteries not included

Halloween has passed and the arrival of Thanksgiving signals more than just turkey and stuffing.

Every deal-hunting consumer knows the day after Thanksgiving as "Black Friday" - as a day when stores open at ludicrously early hours and mark item prices down so much they practically give them away.
