A simple concept resonated through Maryville College's Center for Campus Ministry Saturday.
The spirit of Ubuntu — an African humanist philosophy — states that we are human only through the humanity of other human beings. "So, it's only when you see me that I come alive," explained Paula McGhee, Maryville College's diversity programming director.

The Maryville College Office of Financial Aid again will be hosting an information-packed evening to help students and their parents better understand the complicated financial aid process. The Community Financial Aid Night is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Dec. 4 in the Lawson Auditorium of the College’s Fayerweather Hall.

To remind future students, faculty, staff and administrators of the tremendous progress accomplished during the tenure of Maryville College’s 10th president, the current college community dedicated the Gerald W. and Rachel P. Gibson Residence Hall during Homecoming festivities Oct. 18.

During the 2008 Alumni Banquet, members of three special reunion classes announced the mid-year totals for their respective reunion campaigns. All three groups worked tirelessly for nearly one year to encourage their classmates to make gifts toward the renovation of Anderson Hall, the establishment and growth of endowed scholarships as well as support the Maryville Fund.

Lindsay Beene, a senior from Hixson, Tenn., was crowned Maryville College Homecoming Queen during the College’s Homecoming festivities Oct. 18, while Gabe Turner, a senior from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., was crowned Homecoming King.

"Einstein Revealed: Relatively Speaking," a presentation by Dr. Roger Miller, associate professor of physics at Maryville College, is planned for 7:30 p.m., Dec. 3, in the College’s Lawson Auditorium.

Jugglers, gymnasts, magicians, fire-eaters and sword swallowers, as well as actors, singers, dancers and musicians are all invited to audition for Maryville College’s Spring 2009 production of Stephen Sondheim's "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."

The Maryville College Concert Choir, under the direction of Coordinator of Choral Music Stacey Wilner and Assistant Director Jennifer Olander, and the members of Off Kilter will be presenting two "Musical History Tour" concerts in local churches.
Both concerts are free and open to the public.
