More than two-thirds of our students compete in intercollegiate athletics and our performing arts programs are well known. The Dana College Chorale tours Europe every four years and has produced several CDs. Many organizations are centered around Dana's outstanding academic programs, including the Business Club, Student Education Association and Criminal Justice Organization.

Fun Facts

Dana rhymes with "banana." The name refers to the Danish roots of the original founders, who established Dana in 1884 as a seminary for Danish immigrants. Today, Dana is one of the few schools in the country that offers a minor in Danish.

Traditions / School Myths

Dana is considered -- by some -- to be one of the most haunted places in Nebraska. Many of the school's buildings are purported to house the ghosts of football players, musicians and employees. The most famous ghost haunts Elk Horn Hall, the oldest residence hall on campus. Students and employees have experienced strange lights, cold drafts from nowhere and odd noises while inside the building.
